It's very strange not to be there.
Over all I felt that this was a walk through, no revelations. Our point is to get the show memorized and familiar so it's what it is.
I am a bit worried that people are still holding scripts and suspect that some of the readers are still holding the script too. Once we come back from break, we really need to be able to move...I sound like a broken record I know.
We can't really move much beyond this type of rehearsal until the books are out of our hands. For those of you that are off book, keep going back to it so that the text is accurate.
I do have some notes, and I thank Margeaux for holding the book and supplying Peter's parts.
Sidney's work was not on the tape so I assume that Frederick was perfect. Hopefully I'll get to see it on tomorrows run.
Francine continues to find his/her place. Frederick you are a real New Orleanean and you have to really watch vocal regionalisms. I know I keep harping about it, but be vigilant with it so we can enjoy Ralph as the New Orleans transplant.
Jon - for this run I felt Rhonda had control of the dialogue, strangely. You've got to assume dominance immediately. The word I would use is aggressive, but kill her with Kindness.
Junior - rabid sports fan...he needs to be a little more excited, a raw nerve, thus his reaction. I think usually you are closer to this feel, tonight is perfunctory,and not just you. Is it hot in that room?
Stu - FAHVE is what I'm hearing, not F-eye-veh.
Ben, you need to run your first scene with Barry before running the show. We've got to warmed you up. Your first scene you seemed unnerved. Ben, Metroscan doesn't feel like anything...how do you feel about metroscan? What ever it is it has to be the opposite of what Barry feels about it when he goes on air.
Jon - in the Metroscan scene, "that's impossible, can't be done" sound like words..everything has to mean something ....remember it's being enjoyed on an aural level as well as visual.
Jon - same with "democracy" Do you think that's a good thing?
Ruth - nice pacing for the most part, but it got indiscernible at the end.
Chet - at this point I was just listening to the show on headphones and you sounded great. The voice is good.
Jon - what do you mean with the question "sponsors" should it be incredulous? Remember that "Dachau" is talking down to the ignorant white supremest...telling a story to a lesser..
Jon - we have to get the joke out of the "microwave" line.
Shelby/Debbie - I couldn't understand the pregnant part. It may just be the video cause that's usually not an issue. Please stress pronouns...selectively. Where are you? Are you home in your bedroom? Are you at a friends house? Can your parents hear you? Are you afraid of that? I also would like to experiment with a sense, vocally of naivete. You seem confident and a bit adult. She's a hard one I know.
Cathleen sounds like she's on a coffee high. I love it. I think she may have substance abuse problems...she seems a bit paranoid to me.
Jon - Own "Of course I'm right" when Cathleen questions you with "Maybe your right."
Kent - Justin, can you "fake stone" Kent in the beginning and then once you see he's calling your bluff with Stu you don't know what to do and go back to a less stoned guy. You are doing that to some extent, but I think we should explore the initial stoner and take him a bit further.
Stu - something really not sincere about "Cheryl and I are doing great." This verbal lashing is something you've endured many times and this is your stock approach to Barry as you know, if the show runs well, that he'll be kind to you again.
Jon - there you go again - "do your FUCKING JOB" it doesn't need to be that big...more intense than big.
Stu - submissive and earnest, like taking commands in the military that you don't really want to follow.
Stu - Monologue started out very easy and natural and then it got Phrazy, especially around "M-16". Really look at those personal pronouns, hitting them can really clear up things for the audience.
John/Frederick - great character and it reads so well.
Henry - it's coming, but watch some more of those glee epi's and get the Jewish cloud guy in there.
Jon - Henry is an idiot and somehow you let him get control of this and this pisses you off!
June - great job.
Linda - "huberty" You and Stu are totally eaves dropping on this...
Dan's monologue - It's coming Ben. You seem to be getting confidence in your delivery. Good work. Vietnam Vet take your time with that smile. Enjoy your accomplishments. How do you feel about his tuna fish sandwich? Ben - He stopped chewing means "I had him." Oops we lost steam towards the end.
Kentsequence - Man this started out well and it sorta fell apart line-wise. Megadeath is still not really clear..maybe start by speaking it and then move to singing it later.
Jon - good job on "Jane you ignorant slut" good.
Jon - "that it is" is taking too long.
Julia - is a "groupie" in love with fame.
Kent - watch pulling focus from Cheryl Ann with the chair.
Linda - Do you resort to calling him as a "caller" because he wont level with or talk to you up front. He's never giving you the opportunity to level with him. When do you think you know that he knows that you're Cheryl
Ralph - this needs to be rant and really stream of conscious -
Kent - the laugh at the end of cut your wrist may throw things. What if you're surprised that Stu says your done...Barry doesn't say anything so how about your being surprised that Stu comes down on you. that makes your plea to Barry make more sense. Think about being proud of doing a "Barry"
Stu - fuck you was great... and much better on the Kent exit.
Jon - good read on the script, but you gotta get off the book so we can work on your expression.
Dr. Susan - amazing and Rachel really looks like Pat Benetar
