My friends enjoyed the work and took some notes for me. The video I have didn’t record any of the first act so I’m relying on their notes for the first act and the video for the second. I’m so looking forward to getting back with you all.
Swallowed lines – our guests felt there were some key places where lines were swallowed. On the entrance to Linda and Stu they didn’t know what that dialogue was…remember to keep up with your diction.
Callers – They loved everything that came from the callers…as do I!
“God – In the mirror” Earl the girls felt like this very important line was thrown away last night.
They were concerned the upper level is distracting, but you all will be in less than bright light.
Bomb scene – there needs to be more frenetic concern and calculation from the people in the booth while Barry calmly plays with the bomb/rat.
Dan/Ben – I got to see your monologue and felt everything was physically there, but as you take credit for creating Barry, you need to become slimier, seedier. Much more the dark controlling Svengali. The words smarmy, greasier…as you get to the end of this speech.
Cheryl Ann – We’ll work on this on Saturday, but we need to really set, physically, what happens when you leave the studio. The ladies felt you were great but thought this moment needed a more theatrical realization/in a look before leaving.
Jon – we need you to be more aggressive, meaner…it still needs to be more, but it’s really good what I’m seeing. You are doing some Theatricalities still…the word vibrator for example. It was Viiiiiiie-brator. Just say vibrator – 3 syllables. It think it’s part of the regionalisms like when we say UM brella or TEE-vee, But it’s a biting little joke...don’t sit on the word.
Justin – loved the head on the table and what’s with that hair! I love it. I don’t like the choice to sing “Hands Across America” I applaud the choice but we have this occur three times between you and Stu. I also think “Peace sells” should be more spoken once and then sung. We old folks don’t know what you’re saying.
Someone was standing in front of the camera when you were being thrown out of the studio. It looked good what I saw.
Jon – Good job on the “my show" transition but once you make that connection get off it and segue way into, “Well let’s get back on “my show’ and take some calls” Deflect the thought into the action of getting back to work. Jon - The girls thought you got the right angst when you were confronting the transexual.
Frederick – Dude you make me laugh. I can’t wait to see the first scene as it’s never on the tape. My guests loved the transexual battle especially. But I especially love “Don’t you love yourself” Think about some levels with Ralph. He sounds like he’s coming from a binge and talking trash to his buds…kind of loud. There’s an opportunity here for you to sound almost lucid. You and me are the same – for example. Think about it.
Jon – I was thinking that every time you say the work “think” you should either have a cigarette or a drink. Let’s use think as your trigger for not thinking…The girls totally misunderstood "Dr. Boozenstein.."
Kent – “Nahndy Nahn” cents should be “IE” and not “AH” be aware it puts us right into the Gulf South.
Jon – Can the last “Fuck – You” to Stu have the undercurrent of “I don’t care about” you…which sets him off.
Jon – we have to connect what you are about to do on the speech and a disgust with yourself for scheming with "Dan the Devil" before you get to the monologue. It may be that I’m not physically there but it didn’t really read to me.
Jon – I think the lines about “your own fears etc´” are part of a revelation you are having about really doing “nothing constructive” in the world and destroying your soul in the process. The words of Spike are prophetic – “dead air” that’s what you’re contemplating for 45 seconds. It’s on two levels. There is nothing about what you’re doing that’s adding to the world. Think about those lines and don’t just say them out of anger. We’ll work on this on Saturday.
Earl – I thought that wasn’t a bad transition for the F-You” but after that it was just anger – you are saying to him “try doing this crap without me cause I’m done with your abuse” It's on the right track though.
